Sample Letter: Reduce Water Demand (AB 2175)

See the instructions on where to send this letter to the right. Fax or mail the printable version of this letter.

The Honorable [Your State Senator]
State Capitol
Sacramento, CA 95814

Dear Senator:

Please support Assembly Bill 2175 (Laird/Feuer), which will help the state meet its considerable demand for water by encouraging conservation.

California's water supply is under stress, and population growth and climate change will continue to exacerbate the state's need for water. Though the governor has proposed building more dams, a more sensible, cost-effective, and environmentally sound approach would be to start with conservation. The State Water Plan has identified water efficiency as the single largest pool of water available to meet California’s future water needs. However, we are not currently on track to achieve those savings.

Water efficiency needs to be a primary component of California’s water management strategy. The governor has called for a 20% reduction in per capita water use by 2020, and has invited legislation to achieve that goal. I support AB 2175's approach to implementing that target by establishing savings goals for urban and agricultural water use.

Please vote for AB 2175 and help protect California's water supply.

Sincerely,
