Statement of CLCV Executive Director Susan Smartt

CLCV Board Member Mary Nichols to Lead CARB Board

OAKLAND – Governor Schwarzenegger today nominated Mary Nichols, a longtime Member of the Board of Directors of the California League of Conservation Voters (CLCV), to serve as the next Chair of the California Air Resources Board (CARB). In response, CLCV Executive Director Susan Smartt released the following statement:

"This is great news for California. Mary is an environmental leader of the first order, and her contributions to public health and environmental protection are well respected. California needs bold, aggressive action from CARB to meet Governor Schwarzenegger's air quality and global warming promises. And Mary's determined leadership is exactly what CARB needs."
