AB 32: Stop Global Warming Now
In June, we alerted you to Assembly Bill 32, a bill authored by Assembly Speaker Fabian Núñez and Assemblymember Fran Pavley to regulate stationary sources of global warming gases. California is well known for leading the way on climate policy; this bill represents an opportunity to send a strong message to the rest of the nation and the world.
Right now, the bill is in the Senate Rules Committee, pending final negotiations between Speaker Núñez, Senate President Pro Tem Don Perata, and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. The bill must pass both houses of the legislature by August 31st before it can reach the governor's desk for a signature. Indications are that all parties involved would like to see the bill get there.
Your input today can help strengthen this bill. Governor Schwarzenegger is asking the legislature to include provisions that make it easier for polluters to avoid complying with emission caps.
Take action now: Contact Governor Schwarzenegger and ask him to sign a strong bill that will cap stationary global warming emissions.
- Send Governor Schwarzenegger a fax at (916) 558-3160 urging him to sign a strong version of AB 32. Use our printable sample letter as a model, or simply print it out and add your name and address.
- OR, call Governor Schwarzenegger at (916) 445-2841 and urge him to sign a strong version of Assembly Bill 32.
(It is possible to email the governor, but the governor's office considers that feedback less important than what is received via fax, letter, or phone.)
Your participation can make the critical difference—thank you!
