Assistant Database Manager
Reports to: Database Manager
Salary: $17 per hour plus generous benefits package, non-exempt
Hours: Full Time (40 hrs/week) with some flexibility on scheduling
Location: Downtown Oakland, CA – convenient to BART
The California League of Conservation Voters is the political arm of California’s environmental community. CLCV is an exciting, fast-paced organization that supports environmental candidates for public office, advocates for environmental legislation and increases public awareness of the environmental performance of those public officials.
General Responsibilities:
Assist and act as backup to the Database Manager in ensuring timely availability of data to all CLCV departments as needed, including mailing lists, e-mail lists, and reports
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage segmentation and export of data for nightly calling sheets
- Manage and oversee donor acknowledgements for various donor programs
- Create reminder mailings to members
- Process monthly sustainer gifts and write-offs, and oversee creation of sustainer recovery files
- Train administrative staff in data entry procedures, ensure consistency and accuracy of data
Occasional duties:
- Enter donor information into database
- Enter gifts from Direct Mail, Field Canvass, and Telephone Canvassing programs into database
- Process and record member contributions
- Prepare and reconcile bank deposits
- Prepare and package mailings and membership materials for new members
- Prepare reports of new member program fundraising results
- Act as backup for other data entry staff
- Additional administrative and data entry duties as assigned
Necessary Attributes:
- Experience with database programs, preferably Raiser’s Edge (7.0+)
- Highly personable and friendly people skills
- Punctuality, reliability, and professionalism
- Confidentiality
- Exceptional data entry accuracy
- Excellent organizational, communication, and mathematical skills
- Ability to focus and work quickly under multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks proactively
Desired Skills & Attributes:
- Interest in environmental and political issues
- Experience in nonprofit setting
- Proficiency in a variety of computer programs including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Proficiency in mail merges
